Description
La Vieille Ferme is the well-known range from the Perrin family, the Southern Rhone growers behind Chateau de Beaucastel. This rosé draws on Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah grown across the AOC Luberon, a cooler, higher corner of the Southern Rhone where altitude and a marked day-to-night temperature swing keep the fruit fresh and the acidity bright. The grapes are pressed gently and given a short, cool fermentation to produce a pale, fruit-driven style; there is no oak, which keeps the wine clean and direct. The blend leans on Cinsault for delicacy and red fruit, with Grenache for roundness and a little Syrah for colour and structure. It pours a pale petal pink. The nose shows red cherry, summer berries and a touch of white flowers, with a citrus lift. The palate is dry, light and fresh, the red fruit and white peach carried by crisp, lemony acidity to a clean finish. It is an easy, well-made rosé built for early drinking and warm weather. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
