La Unidad makes this Garnacha rosé in high-altitude Cebreros, in the Gredos mountains, aged eight months on its lees. Fruit-driven and grown sustainably at 13%, the 2024 shows ripe strawberry, raspberry and a fresh, textured palate.
Description
La Unidad Bodegas works in D.O. Cebreros, in the Sierra de Gredos west of Madrid, a high-altitude region prized for old vine Garnacha. La Pantera Rosa is its rosé from this grape, grown on poor granite and sandy soils at altitude, where strong daytime sun is offset by cold mountain nights. That wide diurnal range ripens the Garnacha while holding firm natural acidity, giving a rosé that is both fruity and fresh. The grapes are pressed for a deeper pink colour, then the wine ages for around eight months on its fine lees, which adds body, a creamy texture and a faint savoury note while keeping the bright fruit intact. The colour is a vivid raspberry pink. The nose is fruit-driven, with ripe strawberry, raspberry and a floral lift, and the palate is dry and rounded, with juicy red fruit, fresh acidity and a textured, clean finish. At 13% it stays balanced. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees. It pairs with charcuterie, grilled white meats, paella and tomato dishes.
