Description
La Sorga is the natural wine project of Anthony Tortul, who works with low intervention across some 40 hectares of geologically varied Languedoc vineyards planted to more than 20 grapes, mostly old vines giving low yields and good concentration. Canoë is an orange wine from Muscadelle, Sauvignon Blanc and Len de l'el, the white grapes fermented on their skins so the juice takes colour, phenolic texture and a light grip from skin contact. The old vines and diverse soils give concentrated, balanced fruit, while the Mediterranean warmth is tempered enough to hold the freshness this blend depends on. Barrel ageing rounds the texture through slow oxygen exchange without dominating the fruit. The colour is light amber. The nose shows white peach and pear, citrus peel and green apple, with white flowers and a herbal note. The palate is fresh, vibrant and lively, the bright acidity carrying a pleasant mid-palate and a clean, savoury finish marked by a gentle skin grip. Serve lightly chilled at 10 to 12 degrees.
