A salty, mineral Reunion agricole from fresh-pressed cane juice, rested three years in amphora rather than oak, all grass and floral sugarcane sap with a peppery citrus snap and the alcohol tucked neatly under its high proof.
Description
La Part des Anges bottles this Reunion rhum from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice, not molasses, and takes the unusual route of resting it for three years in amphora rather than wood. The clay vessel leaves the spirit largely uncoloured by oak, so what comes through is the cane itself: mineral, grassy, faintly saline, with a floral lift on top.
Distilled in the island style and held at a hefty 68 percent, it stays bracing without turning hot, the strength folded in so the spirit reads intense rather than raw. The palate runs floral and green with fresh sugarcane and a stony minerality, and the finish warms through white pepper and citrus before circling back to cane. Unsweetened and dry, it rewards a few drops of water and suits a Ti Punch built to let the cane and amphora character speak.
