Description
La Medida Mezcal Arroqueño is a joven made from wild Arroqueño, a large agave that can take up to twenty years to mature and is regarded as the genetic mother of Espadin, which explains both its rarity and its higher price. La Medida draws on more than forty six Oaxacan producers and is led by Julian Vidal Gomez Rodriguez, who began in mezcal over forty years ago and works in small batches by traditional methods.
The nose offers papaya and vanilla, and the palate is light and fruity with plenty of spice and white pepper, closing subtle but long on a peppery note. Pit roasted in the artesanal Oaxacan manner and bottled unaged at 47.5 percent, it shows a slow grown wild agave whose scarcity has made sustainable harvest a real concern, kept undiluted to hold its fruit and pepper.
