La Maldición Tinto Fino is a fresh, low-alcohol Tempranillo from Marc Isart in the Vinos de Madrid region, with a little Malvar. Aged only in concrete, it is light, juicy and thirst-quenching, with bright cherry and red-currant fruit.
Description
La Maldición Tinto Fino is made by Marc Isart at Bodegas Cinco Leguas in the Vinos de Madrid region, a winemaker known for his work with high vineyards around the Spanish capital. The aim of the project is to make thirst-quenching, flavourful wines that drink easily, and this Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo, is built around freshness, with a small amount of the white grape Malvar in the blend. The vines grow on the granite and sandy soils of the Madrid sierra, where altitude and cool nights preserve acidity and keep alcohol low, here just 11.7%. The wine is aged five months in concrete vats, an inert vessel that adds texture and a little gentle oxygenation while leaving the fruit and floral character free of oak. Sustainable farming underpins the wine. The colour is a bright, light red. The nose is fresh and lifted, with red cherry, red currant and berry fruit, dried herbs, a floral note and a peppery edge. The palate is light, juicy and supple, with soft tannins, crisp acidity and a clean finish that keeps you coming back. Serve at 13 to 15 degrees, lightly chilled. It suits poultry, pork and tomato-based dishes.
