Description
La Hora Azul, the Blue Hour, is a tequila reposado from the Canadian owned Don Good Tequila Company, built from agave grown across the volcanic highlands of Jalisco where more than three hundred farming families contribute. It sits in the brand's middle tier between the Pure Spirit blanco and the older highland anejo, a 100% agave highland style aimed at sipping as much as mixing.
Twice distilled and then rested for close to a full year in ex-whiskey bourbon barrels, it takes its golden colour and much of its character from American oak. The aroma is fruity and earthy, leaning on vanilla and caramel with citrus and a gentle spice. On the palate the cooked agave returns alongside honey, vanilla and warm baking spice, and the earthy, lingering finish reads longer than its twelve months in wood would suggest. Bottled at 40%.
