Description
La Herencia de Sánchez means the inheritance of Sánchez, named for the master distiller Rómulo Sánchez Parada, whose Oaxacan palenque also produces the Rey Campero range. This bottling is built from Espadín, the cultivated workhorse of mezcal, and presented as a softer, more approachable joven rather than a high-intensity wild-agave release.
Made in the traditional manner, the agave is pit roasted, which leaves the characteristic light smoke that threads through the spirit alongside a sweet, gently spiced aroma. The palate leans fruity and rounded, with cooked peach, a touch of tinned apricot and orange marmalade set against grassy, vegetal notes and a finish of white pepper. At 42% it stays easy and bright, an Espadín that shows the agave and roast without leaning hard on smoke.
