La Hechicera Serie Experimental No.2 Banana-Infused

La Hechicera Serie Experimental No.2 is a banana infused release from the Colombian blender La Hechicera, a flavoured experiment rather than a straight aged rum. The base is column distilled molasses spirit drawn from old, solera leaning stock, then steeped with banana so that the fruit, not the cask, becomes the headline.

The nose is all banana with marzipan and a caramelised edge, the palate stays banana led with sweetness, light spice and a touch of barrel, and the finish runs sweet on banana, vanilla and wood. The sweetness comes largely from the dried fruit rather than from heavy dosing, so it reads natural rather than artificial, but there is no mistaking this for a dry, complex sipper, it is liquid dessert, intense and singular and squarely about banana.
