Description
La Flor del Flor de Primavera is a certified kosher red made by Celler de Capçanes in D.O. Montsant, the Catalan appellation that rings the slate-rich Priorat. It is a single-variety Garnacha produced under the supervision of the Chabad Jewish community of Barcelona, which sets the kosher protocol: vines must be at least four years old, every seventh year the vines are rested and not harvested, and the cellar follows strict hygiene including the triple washing of the stainless steel tanks. Garnacha thrives in Montsant's warm, dry Mediterranean climate and poor soils, ripening fully to the 15 percent alcohol and the ripe red fruit that mark the grape here. The wine is aged for twelve months in French oak barrels and a further three months in tank, where the oak time softens tannin through slow oxygen exchange and adds sweet spice and structure without masking the fruit. The colour is deep ruby. The nose shows ripe red berry and plum lifted by black pepper, liquorice and dried herbs. The palate is full and warm, with rounded tannin, generous fruit and a savoury, spiced finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees. It suits roast lamb and grilled meats.
