Description
La Favorite Privilege is a 35 Year Old Martinique rhum agricole from La Favorite, the family distillery near Fort-de-France, drawn from very long oak ageing into one of the house's prestige releases. Thirty-five years is unusually long for tropical-aged rum, where the high angel's share usually limits age, which makes a survivor of this maturity rare.
Distilled from fresh sugar cane juice on a column still and matured in ex-bourbon oak, then bottled unsweetened at 40%, a very old agricole of this kind typically trades fresh grassiness for deep, mellow oak, soft baking spice, cocoa and leather, the proof eased down to let decades of cask show. A contemplative old vieux for unhurried sipping.
