A Martinique AOC blanc from La Favorite built on red cane and bottled at 51%, floral and fresh with pineapple lift, then an oily, balanced palate of sweet cane closing round and citrussy.
Description
La Favorite Plaisance Canne Rouge 2024 is a single-variety blanc from La Favorite, one of the last family-run distilleries in Martinique, made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice under the island's rum AOC, which permits no added sugar. The Plaisance bottling isolates red cane to highlight how a single variety shapes the unaged spirit.
Distilled on a creole column run low to preserve the grassy cane congeners, it is brighter and rounder than the most austere blancs. The nose is floral and fresh with a clear note of pineapple and the green snap of cut cane. The palate is oily and balanced, with a natural cane sweetness that stays well short of dosage, and the finish is round and citrussy with fresh sugar-cane. At 51% it carries enough weight for a proper Ti Punch, the canonical agricole serve, while remaining expressive enough to sip neat. A vivid, fruit-leaning take on the dry Martinique white.
