Description
La Favorite is a Martinique agricole house bottling this Coeur de Canne, an unaged white AOC rum at 50% pressed from fresh sugarcane juice. It is an assertive, no-frills blanc made to do a job, and it does it with real conviction at a friendly price.
Distilled on a column still run low to hold the vegetal cane congeners, then rested rather than aged, it leads with bold citrus, exotic fruit and the fresh sap of cut cane. The palate turns peppery and green, with a vegetal snap and a floral edge, and the finish lingers on lime, spice and flowers. Unsweetened in the AOC tradition, it is dry and bracing rather than soft. This is a Ti' Punch rum first, its strong citrus and cane carrying cleanly through lime and sugar, and it makes a fine caipirinha-style pour too.
