An unsweetened blanc-style agricole from La Favorite, one of the last family distilleries inside Fort-de-France, drawn from fresh cane juice on a creole column at 40%, with the fresh, grassy snap that defines the style.
Description
La Favorite Coeur de Canne is made at one of the few remaining independent family distilleries within the city limits of Fort-de-France in Martinique. True to the island's AOC, it is distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice on a creole column, with no added sugar.
Bottled at 40%, this is a cane-juice rum in the fresh, vibrant register rather than a sweet one. Expect grassy, herbaceous notes, fresh sugar cane sap and a touch of white pepper, dry and clean on the finish. The canonical way to drink it is a Ti Punch, with lime and a little cane syrup.
