Description
La Cofradia Edition Catrina Tequila Blanco is the unaged member of the brand's Catrina trio, a 100% agave tequila from La Cofradía, a Jalisco producer that has been making tequila for over fifty years. The name means brotherhood in Spanish, and the series leans on a porcelain and ceramic bottle styled after the Catrina figure, an emblem of Mexican Day of the Dead imagery.
As a blanco it goes into the bottle at or near distillation strength, so there is no cask to hide behind. Expect a direct read of the agave itself: cooked and faintly sweet on the nose, with white pepper and a light citrus edge across a soft, rounded body. Bottled at 38% and built for sipping neat as much as for mixing, it shows the clean agave character the house aims for.
