La Bruja de Rozas is a high-altitude Garnacha from Comando G in the Sierra de Gredos, off vines 50 to 90 years old on granite soils at 800 to 900 metres. Nine months in oak keep it fresh and perfumed, with red berries, citrus and a smoky mineral edge.

Description
Comando G is the Sierra de Gredos project devoted to old-vine Garnacha, the G in the name standing for the grape. La Bruja de Rozas is a single-variety Garnacha drawn from three small vineyards with vines aged between 50 and 90 years, planted on predominantly granitic soils at 800 to 900 metres above sea level in the D.O. Cebreros zone. At that elevation the growing season is long and the nights are cold, so the grapes ripen slowly and evenly to give a fresh, light-framed wine rather than a heavy one. The granite soils drain freely and lend a distinct mineral, iron-like character, while the old vines keep yields low and add detail. The wine is aged for nine months in oak, a gentle elevage that supports the fruit without masking it. The colour is a pale, luminous red and the nose is perfumed, with wild strawberry and cherry lifted by grapefruit peel, smoky herbs, wild thyme and a mineral hint of iron and damp earth. The palate is light and fine at 14.5% alcohol, with bright red fruit, fresh acidity, silky tannins and a savoury, stony finish. Serve at 15 to 16C, with roast duck, game birds or mushrooms.
