Description
Kyrö build their gin on something unusual, a base of one hundred per cent Finnish rye, distilled in small batches in classic copper stills at a converted dairy in Isokyrö. To that rye spirit they add native botanicals: meadowsweet, birch leaves, lingonberries and sea buckthorn, the whole philosophy resting on quality, transparency and a strong sense of place. The copper gives it a soft texture and finely nuanced flavours.
The nose is fresh and herbal, with a fine citrus note and a subtle floral, spicy edge. The palate is complex and smooth, juniper and rye spice meeting fresh mint, citrus and wild herbs, before a dry, elegant, long finish with a gentle pepper. Serve it with a good tonic and a garnish of rosemary, cranberries or grapefruit peel, or let the rye sing neat.
