Description
Kumesen Distillery Co., Ltd. sits on Kumejima island in Okinawa Prefecture, where the distillery has long made awamori using local rice before turning that fermentation expertise toward whisky. Kujira 10 Years Old is a single grain whisky distilled from rice and aged for a decade under the island's subtropical warmth, released at 43% for Europe.
The casks are virgin white oak with Ex-Bourbon character, and the Okinawan heat drives a faster, more colourful maturation than temperate climates allow. Without a recorded flavour profile for this bottling, the expression follows the typical house pattern: tropical-fruit sweetness, light cereal grain, vanilla and gentle oak spice drawn from prolonged contact with the wood. Clean and approachable, it reflects the warm-climate ageing that defines the Kujira range.
