Description
Weinhof Kowald make this frizzante from Uhudler, a group of American hybrid vines long grown in Southern Burgenland and known for an unmistakable wild, foxy red fruit character. The grapes come from the Eltendorf and Henndorf vineyards, and the wine is made as a semi sparkling frizzante with a light, added fizz rather than a full bottle fermentation, which keeps it fresh and easy going. Kept in stainless steel and bottled young, it holds bright primary fruit and a lively bead. At around 28 grams of residual sugar it sits in the softer, gently sweet register.
The wine is a bright rosé red in the glass. The nose is intense and distinctive, with the typical Uhudler signature and a strawberry tone. The palate is led by strawberry and red fruit with a lively freshness, closing fruity and animated. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a tumbler or white wine glass. A regional aperitif that suits light starters, summery snacks and red fruit puddings.
