Koskenkorva Valhalla is a herbal liqueur from Finland, produced at the Koskenkorva distillery on the clean Koskenkorva grain spirit, which is distilled from barley in the village of the same name. A careful selection of herbs and spices is blended onto that base and bottled at 35%, the name drawn from Norse mythology to signal a powerful, complex character. The pairing of a crisp Nordic grain base with northern herbs is the heart of the bottle.

The nose is intense with fresh herbs, thyme, mint and a subtle aniseed note over a hint of spice, the palate full bodied and spicy with thyme and mint, a slight sweetness and spicy accents giving a round, complex taste, finishing long with a fresh herbal note. Behind the bar it brings fresh herbal lift, gentle spice and a measured sweetness, the way a herbal digestif does, which suits an unusual serve such as a herbal mule or a herbal twist on a citrus drink. It is excellent neat or on ice as a digestif. Serve it well chilled to show the fresh herbs.
