Description
Korlat Smokva s Rogacem is a fig liqueur from Croatia, made by Badel 1862 and bottled at 25%. Its character comes from two typical Dalmatian fruits with a long culinary history, sun ripened figs and carob, the figs giving a fruity, round sweetness while the carob adds a subtly tart, slightly nutty depth and a cocoa edge. That pairing of fig and carob is the whole idea, building a layered, naturally sweet liqueur rooted in the southern Croatian coast.
The nose is fruity and warm with ripe fig, caramel, dried dates, malt and subtle herbal spice, the palate sweet and harmonious with stewed figs, honey, a hint of cocoa from the carob and spicy depth, finishing velvety, mild and long. Behind the bar it brings rich fruit, body, sweetness and a gentle spice, which makes it a partner to chocolate tart, nut cake or dried fruit and a fruity accent in a stirred winter cocktail. It is best enjoyed neat at room temperature or slightly chilled to bring out the natural fruit sweetness, and works well as a digestif.
