Adega Entre os Ríos makes KomoKabras Verde in the Barbanza e Iria zone of coastal Galicia, from Albariño. Rested on its fine lees, it is fresh and aromatic, with white peach, apricot and citrus over a saline, mineral finish.
Description
KomoKabras Verde is a coastal Albariño from Adega Entre os Ríos, the Galician winery founded by Francisco Crusat and now run by his son José, working vineyards in the V.T. Barbanza e Iria zone of northwest Spain. Albariño is the great white grape of Atlantic Galicia, and here the maritime climate, high rainfall and granite-based sandy soils give a wine of bright acidity and a salty, mineral edge. Sea breezes off the nearby estuaries keep the vines cool and healthy and lift the aromatic intensity that marks the grape. The wine is fermented in stainless steel to hold that freshness, then rested on its fine lees. Lees ageing releases mannoproteins that add a rounder texture and a subtle savoury depth to what is otherwise a taut, high-acid wine. It shows a pale straw colour with green glints and a nose of white peach, apricot and lemon over white flowers and a faint vegetal note. The palate is dry and precise, with a clean citrus line, a gentle creamy weight and a saline finish that speaks of its Atlantic home. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It is made for seafood, and works from raw shellfish through to grilled and oily fish.
