Description
This Sherry Cask Finish is a peated anCnoc from Knockdhu distillery at Knock, in Banffshire, finished in Oloroso sherry. Part of the distillery's peated output, it pairs gentle smoke with sherried fruit. Knockdhu, founded in 1894 and named anCnoc to avoid confusion with Knockando, is one of Scotland's smallest distilleries.
Reopened by Inver House in 1989, the distillery makes a light Highland spirit with occasional peated runs. Finished in Oloroso casks, the sherry wood adds dried fruit to the smoky malt.
Bottled at 43%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit as peat phenols lend the smoke. The profile runs to fresh fruit, a medicinal edge, honey, a sherried character, smoke and a malt extract note. A peated, sherried anCnoc.
