Description
Gordon & MacPhail bottled this 1974 Knockdhu for its Connoisseurs Choice range, matured in ex-Bourbon. A rare old vintage of the distillery at Knock, in Banffshire, which sells its own malt as anCnoc; independents use the distillery name.
Reopened by Inver House in 1989, the distillery makes a light, fresh Highland spirit, though this vintage predates that revival. Matured in ex-Bourbon, the wood deepened the malt over its long life.
Bottled at 40%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee over a waxy, aged depth. A rare old vintage from a respected independent.
