Cadenhead's released this 11 year old Knockdhu for its Original Collection, matured in ex-Bourbon and Madeira, for Europe. Knockdhu, at Knock, in Banffshire, sells its own malt as anCnoc; independents use the distillery name.
Quiet for years, the distillery reopened in 1989. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Madeira casks, the Madeira adds a candied note.
Bottled at 46%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Madeira candied citrus and a faint tang of burnt sugar over the fresh malt. A Madeira-influenced independent bottling.
