Description
A.D. Rattray bottled this 10 year old 2009 Knockdhu from ex-Bourbon cask 2, an outturn of 345 bottles. The distillery's own malt is sold as anCnoc, so independent bottlers use the Knockdhu name instead; it sits near Huntly in Banffshire. Opened in 1894, it ranks among the country's smallest distilleries.
Ten years in a single ex-Bourbon cask round the spirit, the oak adding vanilla and a soft sweetness.
Bottled without dilution at 52.7%. Vanilla and coconut come from the ex-Bourbon's vanillin and oak lactones. Tasting notes take in citrus, new wood, a dry sandy note and vanilla. An independent single cask.
