Description
This Extra Old was distilled in 1977 and bottled in 1999 at twenty-two years old, in the distillery's square decanter, for Italy. Knockando, founded in 1898 in Speyside, is the heart of the J&B blend and dates its bottlings by distillation year.
Under Diageo today, the distillery makes a light, fine Speyside malt. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks across twenty-two years, the wood deepened the malt.
Bottled at 43%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee over an aged, waxy depth. An older 1977 vintage in the square decanter.
