This Casks of Distinction release is a 32 year old single cask, distilled in 1986 and bottled in 2019 from a single Oloroso cask, number 394. An outturn of 336 bottles for Ireland. Casks of Distinction is Diageo's programme for standout individual casks. Knockando, founded in 1898 in Speyside, is the heart of the J&B blend.
Now owned by Diageo, the distillery makes a light, fine Speyside spirit that rewards long maturation. Matured in a single Oloroso cask across thirty-two years, the sherry wood deepened the malt.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 47.2%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, with tannins adding a walnut dryness over an aged, waxy depth. A rare old single-cask Knockando.
