This Knockando was distilled in 1989 and bottled by Justerini & Brooks in 2001, the house behind the J&B blend Knockando anchors. Knockando, founded in 1898 in Speyside, dates its bottlings by distillation year.
Today owned by Diageo, the distillery makes a soft, fine Speyside spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon, the wood shapes the malt over its twelve years.
Bottled at 43%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and a toffee note from maltol. The recorded notes run to a malt extract note, a nutty edge and an oily texture. A J&B-bottled vintage from the home of the blend.
