Description
The Slow Matured 18 Years Old is an older Knockando, the Speyside distillery founded in 1898 and the heart of the J&B blend. The name reflects the distillery's matured not aged philosophy, holding the spirit until judged ready. Knockando bottles by vintage rather than age.
Now part of Diageo, the distillery makes a light, fine Speyside spirit. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks over eighteen years, the wood deepens the malt while keeping it soft.
Bottled at 43%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut, with maltol for toffee. The recorded notes run to chocolate, a sherried hint, a malt extract note, a nutty edge, vanilla and dried fruit. A rounded older Knockando.
