Description
The Richly Matured 15 Years Old is a sherried expression of Knockando, the Speyside distillery founded in 1898 and the heart of the J&B blend. The name marks its fuller, sherry-led character against the bourbon-led core. Knockando bottles by vintage, in a matured not aged philosophy.
Now owned by Diageo, Knockando makes a light, fine Speyside spirit that takes sherry well. Matured in Oloroso and ex-Bourbon casks, the sherry wood pulls the malt towards dried fruit.
Bottled at 43%. The Oloroso gives dried fruit, melanoidins reading as fig and raisin, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla beneath. The recorded notes run to cooked fruit, a fragrant lift, old wood, a sherried character, chocolate and dried fruit. A richer, sherried Knockando.
