Description
Kistler is one of California's benchmark Chardonnay producers, and Les Noisetiers is drawn from the Sonoma Coast, a cool appellation shaped by Pacific fog, high rainfall and fierce coastal winds. That maritime influence slows ripening and holds acidity, giving the fruit length despite the warm 2023 vintage and its full 15 per cent alcohol. The wine is aged ten months on its lees, and that extended lees contact releases mannoproteins that build a rounded, creamy texture while adding a fine bready depth. Barrel ageing contributes vanilla and toasted oak through slow oxygen exchange, and malolactic softening rounds the malic acidity into a broader, lactic feel. The colour is bright gold. The nose leads with white peach, lemon and hazelnut over toasted bread and honey, and the palate is full and layered, carrying oak spice and a saline coastal edge into a long finish. Serve at 11 to 12 degrees in a wide bowl to open the aromatics.

Additional information
Pour it with lobster or crab in butter, where the wine's creamy weight matches the richness. It also works with roast chicken, baked cod and aged Gruyere or Comte. The lees texture and toasted oak stand up to buttery sauces without losing the coastal freshness.
