This Single Cask is a 4 year old from 2015, the distillery's first year of spirit, drawn from ex-Bourbon barrel 1510292 for the Netherlands. An outturn of 254 bottles. The Wemyss family founded Kingsbarns in 2014, a Lowland distillery in the East Neuk of Fife.
The distillery near St Andrews makes a light, fruity, unpeated spirit on its long-necked stills. Matured in a single ex-Bourbon cask, the wood frames a very young malt from the earliest fills.
Bottled at its natural cask strength of 61.9%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanillin for vanilla and oak lactones for coconut. The recorded notes run to a kippery note, new wood and a toasted edge over the young fruit. An early-vintage single cask from the first year.
