Description
Killepitsch is a herbal liqueur from Dusseldorf, made by the Likorfabrik Peter Busch and bottled at a firm 42%. The recipe draws on a large blend of selected herbs, berries and fruits, whose interplay gives the liqueur its depth, and it is one of the better known German herbal specialities in the bittersweet digestif style. The strength and the breadth of the botanical blend are its signature, keeping it powerful yet balanced rather than simply sweet.
The nose is intense herbal spice with dark berries and fine spicy notes, the palate strong and full bodied with a complex herbal blend, subtle sweetness and spicy depth, finishing long, warm and aromatic. Behind the bar it brings herbal bitterness, spice and body, the way a bittersweet digestif does, which lets it lengthen with cola or ginger beer or add a strong herbal accent to a modern stirred drink. It is traditionally enjoyed chilled or at room temperature as a digestif. Serve it well chilled to show the herbal structure.
