This Kilchoman The Netherlands is a Small Batch Release No. 3 for the Dutch market, vatted from ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks. An outturn of 1,260 bottles. Kilchoman, the island's only farm distillery, was founded by Anthony Wills in 2005.
Every stage from malting to bottling happens at Rockside Farm. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the bourbon wood gives the base and the sherry a darker layer.
Bottled at 49.3%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla, the Oloroso dried fruit, while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to a coal-gas edge, a medicinal note, leather, seasoned oak, a faint plastic note and smoke. A market small batch for the Netherlands.
