Description
Saligo Bay is a travel retail Kilchoman, a 5 year old matured in ex-Bourbon, named for a bay on the Islay coast near the distillery. Kilchoman, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, was the first new distillery on Islay in over 124 years.
The distillery malts its own barley and bottles on the farm. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, the wood frames the young peated spirit with vanilla and citrus.
Bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour. Citrus and vanilla rise from the ex-Bourbon cask while peat phenols bring the smoke. The recorded notes run to smoke, vanilla, a medicinal edge, fresh oak, citrus and a coal-gas note. A peated travel retail farm malt.
