This Kilchoman France is a Small Batch Release No. 2 for the French market, vatted from ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks. An outturn of 1,200 bottles. Kilchoman, founded by Anthony Wills in 2005, is the island's only farm distillery.
Kilchoman handles malting through bottling on its own Islay farm. Matured in ex-Bourbon and Oloroso casks, the two woods give vanilla and a touch of dried fruit.
Bottled at 47.1%. The ex-Bourbon gives vanilla while peat phenols carry the smoke. The recorded notes run to a medicinal edge, smoke, citrus, a kippered maritime note, leather and fresh oak. A market small batch for France.
