Description
Keller Geister Secco is made by the Herres cellars in Trier, a large German producer of sparkling and semi sparkling wines. As a secco it is a frizzante, a lightly sparkling style with lower pressure than a full sparkling wine and a softer, gentler bead. It is made by tank fermentation to keep the fruit fresh and bottled young, giving an uncomplicated, everyday fizz at a modest 8.5 per cent alcohol. The style is dry but fruit forward, built for easy drinking rather than complexity.
The wine is a clear, light yellow with a lively perlage. The nose is fresh and appealing, with juicy apple, ripe pear and a citrus lift. The palate follows the same line, fresh and gently fruity with a light structure and a clean, short finish. Serve well chilled at around 7 degrees. It is an easy aperitif and pairs well with fresh salads, antipasti and summer tapas, as well as lighter fish and poultry dishes.
