Kasama Small Batch Rum

Kasama Small Batch is a Filipino rum aged seven years and made from fresh sugar cane juice rather than molasses, then matured in ex bourbon barrels. While it carries a cane juice base, in profile and presentation it belongs with the soft, sweet leaning sippers rather than the grassy dryness of agricole, and it leans into bright, fruity accessibility at 40%.

The aromas are vivid and candy like, with pineapple, strawberry and apple, and the palate keeps that sweet, fruit forward character before a finish of raspberry, banana, strawberry and caramel. The mouthfeel is full and the sweetness pronounced, suggesting a dosed, dessert leaning style. It is a fun, fruity rum that shines in tropical cocktails and lighter mixed drinks, and while a few find it pleasant enough to sip, it is at heart a sweet, easy going crowd pleaser rather than a dry, serious pour.
