Karukera in Guadeloupe, relaunched in 2002 and known for single-cane work, makes this Reserve Speciale Rhum Vieux from fresh sugarcane juice under the island's IGP. A five year aged agricole bottled at a gentle 42 percent, it is pitched as an accessible, balanced introduction to aged cane juice rum.

Column distilled and matured in ex-bourbon wood, it shows dry sugarcane, young wood and spice on the nose, with medium fruit and gentle oak across the palate.
