Karuizawa Heaven

Karuizawa Heaven is a blended whisky produced at Karuizawa distillery in Nagano Prefecture during the distillery's operational years. Bottled at 40% for the Japanese domestic market in a 660ml format, it sits in the range of everyday commercial releases that Karuizawa produced alongside its single malt output, blending malt and grain spirit for a wider audience.

Aged in Ex-Bourbon casks, Heaven shows the lighter, friendlier face of Karuizawa before the closed-distillery era began: soft vanilla, cereal sweetness and a mild oak warmth, all at a gentle 40% that makes it accessible rather than challenging. These domestic-format bottles are now historical artefacts of the distillery's working life, interesting precisely because they reflect a time when Karuizawa was an ordinary part of the Japanese market.
