Description
Karuizawa Gloria is a blended whisky produced at Karuizawa distillery in Nagano Prefecture during the distillery's active years under Mercian ownership. Released for the Japanese domestic market at 43% in a 760ml bottle, it represents the accessible commercial side of a site that later became known mostly for rare single-cask releases.
Drawing on Ex-Bourbon cask maturation, Gloria presents the light, approachable character typical of Japanese domestic blends from this era: vanilla, gentle grain sweetness, a soft fruitiness and a clean, easy finish. It is a reminder that before the distillery closed in 2000, Karuizawa served everyday drinkers first and collectors second. Bottles from this range are now rare simply because they were consumed rather than collected.
