Juveniles Blended Malt Scotch Whisky CB (Compass Box)

Juveniles Blended Malt Scotch Whisky CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box. It marries single malts from more than one distillery, Clynelish among them. It is the heart malt of Johnnie Walker Gold Label, and a sought after single malt in its own right.

The Clynelish within gives a waxy, citrussy coastal note. Ex-Sherry wood added a dried fruit richness to the waxy spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the wax. Water comes from the Clynemilton Burn, the spirit drawn off three wash and three spirit stills. Its waxy character, a candle wax and beeswax texture, is prized above almost any other by blenders. Long ageing turns the fresh lemon towards candied orange, beeswax and tropical fruit. A coastal maturation lends a faint brine to the oily, waxy malt. The original Clynelish was founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford during the Highland Clearances.

At 46% it is smooth and waxy. A waxy, oily texture runs through it, with citrus, honey and a coastal lift. A beeswax and a savoury edge give it depth. A long, oily finish ends on lemon and beeswax. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
