Description
Josep Grau Viticultor is a personal project in D.O. Montsant, the appellation that rings Priorat, where Josep Grau farms 26 hectares of vines of varying ages on a mix of soils without pesticides under fully organic practice. Regina Rosado blends Garnacha Tinta with the white Garnacha Blanca, a field-style pairing of red and white Garnacha that gives the wine both red-fruit weight and aromatic lift. Montsant sits at altitude with warm days and cool nights, a diurnal swing that preserves freshness in the fruit, while the granitic and slate-influenced soils add a mineral spine. This is an aged rosé, fermented and rested in barrel, where contact with the lees and slow oxygen exchange through the wood builds a rounder, more textured palate than a tank-only pink. The colour is a deeper pink, the nose offers wild strawberry, redcurrant, pear and white flowers with a touch of beeswax from the barrel, and the palate is dry, broad and savoury with a citrus finish. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees.
