José Cuervo 1800 Blanco Keith Haring “Untitled 1985”

This is 1800 Silver, the unaged blanco from the 1800 range, in a limited Essential Artists Series bottle carrying the work of pop artist Keith Haring. The tequila itself is made by Jose Cuervo at La Rojena, NOM 1122, the oldest active distillery in the town of Tequila, from 100% Agave tequilana Weber var. azul rather than mixto, and twice distilled.
As a blanco it is bottled at or near distillation strength of 40%, giving the clearest read of the cooked agave and the distillery hand. The profile is rounded and approachable, with pleasant peppery notes and a long finish, in the polished mainstream style of the 1800 line. The bottle is the collectible point here, but the liquid is a straightforward, pepper accented blue agave blanco.
