Description
Jordi Miró began his own project in Corbera d'Ebre in 1999, planting his first vineyard after years in the wine trade before building a cellar in 2009. He works mostly with local varieties, and Garnacha Blanca is the signature white grape of D.O. Terra Alta, a warm continental zone in southern Catalonia where the cooling Cerç wind moderates ripening. Garnacha Blanca ripens to generous stone fruit and a broad, textured palate, with only moderate acidity, which is why growers here often turn to oak to add structure and grip. This wine is aged in wood, a step that brings measured oxygen exchange, softens the fruit and lifts the natural nuttiness of the grape while the time in contact with lees adds body and a savoury layer. The result is medium bodied and dry. The colour is a bright straw yellow. The nose leads with white peach and ripe pear, backed by dried herbs, almond and a beeswax note. The palate is round and gently textured, with citrus peel keeping it fresh through a warm, nutty finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
