Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice Game of Thrones (John Walker & Sons) is a blended Scotch from John Walker and Sons, with Clynelish at its heart. Clynelish, with its prized waxy texture, is the heart malt of Johnnie Walker Gold. Two old Brora warehouses still stand on the site, a link to its silent neighbour.

Clynelish lends an oily, waxy Highland texture to the blend. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the soft oak letting the waxy citrus lead. The oily, waxy texture is the signature that blenders prize above all. The cool, salt laden coastal air works into the maturing casks at Brora. Refill oak lets the famous Clynelish wax lead, lemon and honey beneath. The clean, oily spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and honey over the wax. The lost Brora distillery beside it, closed in 1983, was revived by Diageo in 2021. The original Clynelish was founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford during the Highland Clearances.

At 40.2% it is clean and coastal. A waxy, oily texture runs through it, with citrus, honey and a coastal lift. A lemon, a brine and a thick wax lift it. The finish runs waxy, coastal and clean. A characterful blended Scotch.
