This is Jin Jiji turned up. Made by Peak Spirits in India, the High Proof takes the brand's classic India Dry Gin and pushes it to a forceful 57%, the better to carry its flavours. Aromatic Himalayan juniper sits at the heart, joined by fragrant Indian tulsi basil, the brand's signature Darjeeling tea and a soft note of chamomile. Distillation runs slow in a copper still, drawing the flavours out gently so the higher strength never turns harsh.
The nose opens on berries, chamomile and herbs. The palate is fruity and full, tulsi basil and a thread of honey riding the extra power, the tea and juniper holding their shape underneath. It finishes long, with surprising poise for the proof. Built for a robust G&T that stands up to ice and citrus, or as the backbone of a bold, stirred cocktail.
