Description
Jasci is a family estate in the municipality of Vasto, on the Adriatic side of Abruzzo, where Sebastiano Jasci has converted every process to organic farming. This Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is made entirely from Montepulciano, the region's principal red grape, vinified as a rosé with a short period of skin contact that draws the deep cherry colour the appellation is named for. Fermentation and ageing take place in stainless steel at controlled temperature, which preserves the grape's red fruit and protects its natural acidity from the warm coastal climate. The result is more substantial than a pale Provence style. The colour is bright cherry pink. The nose shows ripe cherry, redcurrant and plum with a faint herbal, savoury note that reflects the Montepulciano grape and the maritime site. The palate is dry and medium bodied, with fresh acidity, a little grip from the brief maceration and a clean citrus-edged finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees.
