Description
J. Bally Velier 70th Anniversary 2006 is a twelve year Martinique agricole from J. Bally, marking a Velier anniversary. J. Bally is known for dry, oak forward rum and its pyramid bottle, and this vintage shows a fresher, fruitier face of the house at an easy strength.
Distilled from fresh cane juice on a column still and matured twelve years in ex bourbon oak under tropical conditions, it stays light on its feet despite the age. The nose is floral, fresh and rounded with a barrel note, the palate floral and fresh on wood and cane, and the finish brings vegetal cane, cocoa, florals and peach. Bottled unsweetened at a silky 43 percent, it is clean and easy drinking, a contemplative agricole that rewards a rest in the glass, where the apricot and floral notes bloom over the dry cane core.
